Students from various disciplines at Mannheim University of Applied Studies have been collaborating across faculties in the teaching and learning projects kompass and modal since 2015. The ZLL upholds this interdisciplinary approach, encouraging students to actively find creative solutions for current, complex societal challenges by working in self-organized project teams. Networking with university-wide working groups aims to ensure that these kinds of projects meet the needs of stakeholders.
The Centre for Teaching and Learning (ZLL) is a central institution and contact point for all students and lecturers at Mannheim University of Applied Sciences and serves the competence-based and future-oriented development of teaching and learning methods and practices.
As a platform for teaching and learning at all stages of study and life, ZLL contributes to the fulfilment of the university's educational mission. A primary goal is to provide a portal for university-wide teaching and learning programmes where (prospective) students, lecturers, graduates and citizens can find suitable learning programmes to meet their individual needs.
We collaborate to enhance higher education, develop and test new teaching and learning formats, research their effectiveness, and ensure that hands-on learning and real-world application of knowledge are embedded into the university's curriculum. The focus is on developing subject-specific, interdisciplinary, and digital skills, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and promoting cross-university exchange. Current priorities include developing project- or problem-based and individualised forms of teaching and learning, as well as building the capacity to actively shape transformation processes.
There are many different approaches to quality teaching. Good quality teaching is effective, facilitates learning, and meets the needs of the involved stakeholders. The ZLL brings cooperation partners together, advises, and supports new teaching and learning projects.
Feel free to contact us if you have a project idea or would like to exchange ideas with us and colleagues from all disciplines! Students, lecturers, and staff learn from and with each other in our network of stakeholders.
